Kindle + Kindle Unlimited vs physical books
Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of physical books, specially the haptic, however, here is a calculation from my own example.
Let's say I spent every month 40 euro on physical books. Let's be fair and good for our planet and say we spend about half of it, because we buy used books. That brings us the following result:
One year that'd be 250 euro and for 5 years 1.250 euro.
If I spend one time 109 Euro one time (already includes 3 months Kindle Unilimited) and the Kindle Unlimited abo. As there are 3 months for free with my Kindle device, I am about to pay 36 euro less for the yearly Kindle Unlimited, which leaves me with 108 euro.
So, we have for Kindle + Kindle Unlimited 109 euro as one-time payment and 108 euro for the first year, which sums your first year up with 217 euro.
After that first year, that would be 144 euro. Let's multiple that with 5 years. 720 euro. You would save on a long run with about 5 years of Kindle + Kindle Unlimited 530 euro! Of course, that's personal preference. Physical books will never be replaced with e-books. There is something about the haptic and so on, which simply cannot be replaced by a screen.
NOTE: This calculation only makes sense if you never buy books via Kindle Unlimited.
NOTE 2: The 250 euro was pretty optimistic, eventually it's the price x2, so going by that, Kindle makes even more sense.
NOTE 3: Kindle E-Books are pretty low cost, even under 5 euro, so you could just buy the Kindle device without the abo and that would result in the same calculation: Money saved with E-Books.
